Cortisol
Cortisol is an experimental linocut created during the development of my installation for the exhibition Tause Stemmer (Silent Voices). The work explores the visual language of the stress hormone cortisol, combining expressive lettering with the circular form of the print to reflect the physical and emotional effects of prolonged stress.
Printed on translucent parchment paper, the artwork can be viewed from either side, allowing light and material to become part of the experience. The transparency adds another layer to the work, echoing the often invisible biological processes that shape our bodies and emotions.
As an early study, Cortisol documents an important stage in the development of the larger installation while standing as an independent original print.
